NASA’s HUBBLE

Hubble is a combined project of NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) and ESA ( European Space Agency) . It is a space Telescope orbiting earth since 1990 . It is nearly 13.2 meters long and weighs 11110 kg. It is about 547 km above earth and complete it’s orbit in every 95 minutes with a speed 8 km per second.

Hubble space Telescope is a front row seat to the universe. It captures astonishing pictures of cluster of galaxies, star dust, exoplanet, constellations ,supernovas etc from the deepest part of the observable universe. Latest post shared by Hubble’s official Account is of a spiral neighbouring galaxy NGC 2276 pointing it’s lopsided look caused due to galactic game of tug -of – war(between galaxies).

Hubble has now become a vital tool for astronomers to not only propose a theory but also explore the unseen. Till date hubble has ascertain most of the facts that we know today, it has uncovered seasons on planets in our solar system as well as other, their moons and their geography. It helped in predicting age and size of the universe and understanding nature of dark matter ,cosmic rays, gama rays and also in understanding life cycle of a star and many other.

Hubble periodically undergoes servicing by crew member at ISS( International Space Station) named Megan McArthur.

For capturing photos from deep space Hubble mainly uses three wavelengths of the electromagnetic spectrum i.e near infrared, visible, and ultraviolet rays.

This is Galaxy Caldwell 72 . It is nearly 6.5 million light years away from earth which is 6500000 ร— 9.46 ร—10 ^15 m . By this we can estimate how much Hubble can extend its capacity to look deep into the further!!

Inventions like Hubble are foremost to explore the universe. We hope in upcoming years scientists will unfold all the dark secrets of the universe. Above all we wait for the day when finally we capture extrateresstial life on any other planet.

THE MILKOMEDA

MILKOMEDA is the resultant galaxy formed after the collision of The Milky Way and The Andromeda.

The Milky way is a spiral galaxy in which our solar system is located. It host a black hole at its centre known as Saggitarus A* where as The Andromeda too is a spiral neighbour galaxy. It is about 2.5 million light years away. It also holds a massive black hole at its centre which has mass equals to 100 million suns.

At the beginning of 20th century, a scientist named Visto Slipher proposed that farther bodies which moves closer to earth appears to be blue in colour and that who moves away appears to be red. When he observed The Andromeda ,it too showed the favourable changes hence in 1913 he concluded that it’s moving towards the milky Way and may collide with it in the future. It was only clear when they calculated Andromeda’s velocity which came out to be 300km/s and transverse velocity to be 17km/s.

It was also found that Andromeda will hit milky Way in about 4.5 billion years. This will result into suns bursting into supernovas ,introduction of new stars, cluster of dust ,new constellations and many more which will rebulid the night sky .

It is also believed that after the first collision Andromeda will move further then it will take a U turn and collide with the Milky Way again in about 100 million years . This will end up with the formation of new elliptical galaxy –THE MILKOMEDA. Now this new galaxy will host a gigantic supermassive black hole like J2157.

Unfortunately, mankind will miss the spectacular view of the changing sky at that time because it will come to an end years before this Collision as we will encounter sun transforming into a red giant which will engulf our earth as predicted.

BLACK HOLE: A MYSTERY

Black holes are found in space where gravity is so strong that even light – ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š ๐™›๐™–๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™š๐™จ๐™ฉ ๐™ ๐™ฃ๐™ค๐™ฌ๐™ฃ ๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ฉ๐™ฎ – cannot pass through it.They are believed to be at the centre of all galaxies.

They have a dense point at their centre where space, time and laws of physics Boundary of black hole is known as Even though black holes are invisible, scientists study them by observing the change they bring in their surrounding.

Most of the blackholes are of stellar type i.e formed when a star dies and collapse. Taking ideas from the general theory of relativity scientist named Karl Schwarzschild said that any mass can behave as a black hole only when it is ๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™œ๐™๐™ฉ๐™ก๐™ฎ ๐™˜๐™ค๐™ข๐™ฅ๐™ง๐™š๐™จ๐™จ๐™š๐™™.

Apart from that black holes at the centre of galaxies are of supermassive types, they are very huge, some measuring the size of our solar system. On April 10 ,2019 the first image of a supermassive black hole was taken. The black hole is at the centre of galaxy M87. It is an active black hole and it’s mass is 6.5 billion times the mass of our sun. Scientists are also working to publish an image of another supermassive black hole Saggitarus A* at the centre of our galaxy-the Milky Way.

Our universe is full of fascinating things and the most mysterious ones too -black hole is just a speck as there’s a lot more to explore.
