MILKOMEDA is the resultant galaxy formed after the collision of The Milky Way and The Andromeda.
The Milky way is a spiral galaxy in which our solar system is located. It host a black hole at its centre known as Saggitarus A* where as The Andromeda too is a spiral neighbour galaxy. It is about 2.5 million light years away. It also holds a massive black hole at its centre which has mass equals to 100 million suns.
At the beginning of 20th century, a scientist named Visto Slipher proposed that farther bodies which moves closer to earth appears to be blue in colour and that who moves away appears to be red. When he observed The Andromeda ,it too showed the favourable changes hence in 1913 he concluded that it’s moving towards the milky Way and may collide with it in the future. It was only clear when they calculated Andromeda’s velocity which came out to be 300km/s and transverse velocity to be 17km/s.
It was also found that Andromeda will hit milky Way in about 4.5 billion years. This will result into suns bursting into supernovas ,introduction of new stars, cluster of dust ,new constellations and many more which will rebulid the night sky .
It is also believed that after the first collision Andromeda will move further then it will take a U turn and collide with the Milky Way again in about 100 million years . This will end up with the formation of new elliptical galaxy –THE MILKOMEDA. Now this new galaxy will host a gigantic supermassive black hole like J2157.
Unfortunately, mankind will miss the spectacular view of the changing sky at that time because it will come to an end years before this Collision as we will encounter sun transforming into a red giant which will engulf our earth as predicted.
